Web 2.0 is here to stay, What is it, What is not!
Web 2.0 is considered the new generation of Web Sites. It is coming with some confusion and some controversy because it is a powerful shift in concept and mentality.
In Web 1.0 my Website was my property and nobody dare to touch it. It was mine, just mine.
In Web 2.0 my Website is like a huge party where people are invited to participate, to be active, to add there content and really interact with other. If you want, it is like a huge Forum in which you can publish your ideas, your comments, your recommendations, and
- if you are right, you actually help the community
- if you are wrong, other people will jump in the wagon and will express there comments, ideas, concerns.

The communication, interaction is the name of the new game.
To be honest with you, I was a little skeptical for the beginning.
But as soon as I realize the power of interaction with others, I completely change my mind, and the shift to new mentality got me.
Needless to say, I was delighted with the amount of traffic Web 2.0 got me, the interesting and talented people I met on line. |
A Google research tells us that in 2007 the interest of people search was as follow:
- Content - sites providing news, information and entertainment - 45.5%
- Communications - sites providing the mechanism of exchanging ideas, messages, information - 33.7%
- eCommerce - sites design for shopping on-line - 16.1%
- Search - sites searching for information - 5%.
This information alone tells me that Web 2.0 is already established, and the interest is growing.

Let's see what is part of Web 2.0:
- Social Bookmarking
- Social Networking
- Video Sites
- Pod Casting
- Blogs
I'll take one at a time and tell you what I learn using them.
In a nutshell is traffic, the fun of communication and interaction, a huge learning curve from other people experience. |

As a general Note:
- You will not achieve success just applying one tiny piece of Web 2.0.
- You'll achieve success implementing all the parts of Web 2.0. With other words:
- You really must create a network of communication which is targeted traffic
- It will keep you active and up to date
- It will make you improve and grow in knowledge.
